Nintendo's new president Shuntaro Furukawa believes the Nintendo 3DS is a good device that hits a price point that's different from the Nintendo Switch. He has stated that his company is considering possibilities about a possible 3DS successor, but for now Nintendo seems content on launching new varieties of the New 2DS XL for people to enjoy.
Nintendo of Japan announced three new models via blogpost today, showcasing unique designs that complement the game they're intended to represent. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, and Minecraft all got some love. It's interesting to see a non-Nintendo property getting emblazoned on an official Nintendo device, which just showcases how strong the partnership between Nintendo and Microsoft really is.
The Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 7 designs will be available on July 19th, while the Minecraft design won't be available until August 2nd. We do know these will be making their way to Europe, but no word on whether the United States will get either of these designs for the upcoming holiday season. Are you interested in any of them or are you done with your Nintendo 3DS days?
