Nintendo has been teasing more game announcements coming later this year since the end of E3, but the only thing we've seen that's new new is the announcement of Diablo III: Eternal Edition for Switch. Eager fans who have been waiting to hear what's next from Nintendo might be interested to know that insider rumblings suggest New Super Mario Bros. U is the next Wii U game to be ported to the Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have all been more successful than their Wii U counterparts, so it makes smart sense for Nintendo to bolster the Switch catalog with games that were underappreciated during the Wii U era. Even Ubisoft has jumped on board the port train with a Rayman Legends Definitive Edition that included exclusive content.
The Switch-bound version of New Super Mario Bros. U is rumored to be given the deluxe treatment by including the New Super Luigi U DLC that debuted in 2013 as a standalone title. The rumor also suggests Nintendo could be including new content to entice those who have already played the game, but no details about that content have been revealed.
Will we see this Deluxe edition revealed at Gamescom or The Game Awards later this year? Who knows, but I can't wait to play Super Mario Maker Deluxe when they finally get around to revealing that port.
