Nintendo Was Working on a Horror Game Starring Tingle

Would he have been the good guy or the bad guy?

Though they were never released in North America, two titles starring everyone's favorite fairy cosplayer and resident weirdo Tingle were released for the Nintendo DS back in 2006 and 2009. These games were produced by Nintendo and developed by small Tokyo studio Vanpool, who recently released the third title in their Wild West-themed Dillon's trilogy. But before the Dillon's series came to be, Vanpool and Nintendo were working on a horror game that would have featured the Legend of Zelda side character in the lead role:

“Looking back eight years ago, we were developing a horror game with Vanpool that starred Tingle as the main character,” explains Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe. “But that project was canceled due to a variety of reasons.”

We may never know what that game might have looked like since the project was scrapped, but it leaves Tingle fans hopeful that he'll star in another game of his own someday. Can we at least get a Western release of Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love?
