Now that E3 is behind us, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot sat down for a Q&A session to answer some burning questions about the direction the company is taking. One of the main topics of discussion was the amount of collaboration that is going on between Ubisoft and Nintendo. Mario + Rabbids just got a new Donkey Kong focused DLC and Starlink: Battle for Atlas features Star Fox as a playable character. So what's next on the docket for these two companies?
When asked why his company's relationship with Nintendo is so strong, Guillemot stated that it is because the company has worked together many times in the past. Wii U owners will remember that Rayman Legends and Zombi U were Wii U exclusives, once upon a time. When asked if this level of deep collaboration will continue, here's what Yves had to say.
“The Nintendo brands and their capacity to create fantastic games is really something that our creators in Ubisoft love, and when they can collaborate with Nintendo they are extremely happy to do so. So, yes it will continue, and I hope we will be able to surprise you with new things in the future.”
That's heartening news for anyone who has enjoyed Ubisoft's recent efforts on both Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Rayman Legends was a fantastic game and I've highly enjoyed Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. What about you? What sorts of collaboration would you like to see between these two companies?
