SEGA has made the Valkyria Chronciles 4 demo available on the Nintendo Switch eShop for anyone who might be interested in this tactical JRPG. The series started out as a PSP title and saw a moderate amount of fame, although Valkyria Chronicles 3 was never officially given a Western release date.
This follow-up to the original trilogy follows Commander Claude Wallance and his Squad E comrades during their first engagements of Operation Northern Cross. If you're unfamiliar with the world the game is set in, it's a fantasy war story with inspiration from WW2-themed tech. The tactical turn-based combat is pretty satisfying for those who enjoy games like Fire Emblem, but still like a mix of shooting mechanics.
Players can experience the prologue and the first two chapters of the game, as well as a bonus mission created exclusively for the demo version. Demo save data including items, class levels, experience, and currency will transfer over to the main game if you decide to buy it. The game launches worldwide on September 25th and is now available for pre-order on the Switch eShop and retail locations like Amazon.
